Groups of Year 9 pupils from Newquay Tretherras have recently had an experience of studying Science at university when they had taster days with Exeter and Plymouth universities.
The boys were involved in hands on sessions covering the study of Biosciences and Geography and discovered the careers and progression available in Science at Exeter’s Penryn campus.
Meanwhile, the girls visited Plymouth University where they were able to control robots and explore the planetarium during their taster session of Science and Engineering.
The days were led by a combination of academic staff, Post-Graduate students and Student Ambassadors who aimed to give the students an idea of life at university whilst broadening their understanding of Science.
Year 9 student Daisy Allsopp said, “It was a really interesting day and has definitely made me consider doing a similar University course in future.”
