Newquay Tretherras U15 Football County Champions

Newquay Tretherras Under 15 Boys became County Champions on 30th April after beating Penryn College 2-1 at Truro City Football Club. The final was a great display of skill and control from the Y11 boys who played a fantastic game to become deserved winners.

Despite giving away an own goal early in the first half Tretherras did not panic and continued pressure. Late on in the first as series of corner kicks kept Penryn under heavy pressure and resulted in a headed goal from John Mitchell. Not until the last minutes of the game did a second goal again from Mitchell, with a similar set play, give Tretherras the winning goal and title.

Mr. Andy Booth Y11 team managers said, “The boys have managed to make the semi finals for the last three years but the final had always eluded them. Everybody gave 100% effort out on the pitch and their hard work paid off. The shield they have won has great history dating back to the first winner in 1914!!! Judging by the size of it we’ll have a job to lose it.”
