The Individual

The individual is expected to reflect on and improve their practice and take responsibility for identifying and meeting their professional needs. The appropriate Standards Frameworks should be used to self-evaluate practice and identify relevant areas for development. To achieve this, staff are expected to:

Routinely self-evaluate their work as a basis for discussion within the context of induction and for the Performance Management review

To attend Team Meetings, INSET and Twilight Training

Engage in either, Coaching, Mentoring, Teaching and Learning Group, Action Research or School Action Group

 

Staff should also:

Continue being a reflective Learner

Have high expectations of themselves and recognise the value of CPD

Keep up to date with new initiatives and research

Recognise that they are accountable for their work in School

Recognise their strengths and abilities to support, coach and mentor colleagues

Share, team teach and observe effective practice with colleagues

Use a range of relevant resources to support CPD

Maintain a Professional Development Portfolio

 

Staff could also:

Gain practical experiences e.g. Exam Marking, Contribute to forums

Lead in-school training for colleagues

Attend a course or conference

Visit Beacon Schools

Use support and guidance from AST’s and Consultants

Engage in Action Research
