Newquay Tretherras student, Sennen Pope, has made it through to the regional auditions of the Open Mic UK contest.
Open Mic UK is a nationwide music competition which saw Sennen compete against 500 other entries in the under 16 category. The Tretherras Year 11 student had entered the contest last year but not made it through.
Sennen, who is 15 years old, explained, “I felt the added pressure, having experienced the contest before but was determined to succeed with this years audition.”
Performing her own rendition of a Brittney Spears song, she sailed through with great comments from the judging panel.
Representatives from the Music Industry, including Simon Cowell’s record label, were on the judging panel and gave some very positive feedback, billing Sennen as a future star.
Mrs Rhian Knight, teacher of Music at the Academy commented, “We are extremely proud of Sennen, she is a very talented singer and song writer with a brilliant future. We are excited for her and will be supporting her all the way.”
For the regional final Sennen will be performing one of her own songs on the 2nd of November.
