Students Attend Careers Skills Event

On 18th March, a mix of Year 10 students and Sixth Formers from Newquay Tretherras attended a Careers Skills Event in Plymouth.

There were a variety of exhibitors at the event, including top employers, universities, colleges, apprenticeships and training providers, offering valuable careers information.

Students also had the chance to try out some work-based skills, such as plastering, cooking, floor laying, hairdressing and even milking cows!

Chloe McGrath, a Year 12 student said, “I was surprised by all the apprenticeships and different options available as an alternative to going to University. It’s definitely given me a lot to think about.”

Careers advisor, Ms Sara Jeffery commented, “It was an exciting opportunity designed to inspire and inform the students of the opportunities available to them after their school education. They all really enjoyed the hands on experiences and took a lot away from the day.”
