Stephen Gilbert, Local MP, Visits Tretherras

Newquay’s local MP, Stephen Gilbert, paid a visit to Newquay Tretherras on 10th October and discussed humanitarian and cultural issues with students in their Social, Moral, and Spiritual and Cultural lessons.

The MP has had great involvement with the schools Amnesty Group and has previously invited students to visit him in Parliament back in 2013.

After visiting the Newquay school the MP posted on his twitter account, “Great morning with Year 7, 9 and 10 at Newquay’s @Tretherras school today – very on the ball pupils discussing some challenging issues.”

Mr Grahaeme Jones, Lead teacher of SMSC at Tretherras commented,”It was interesting to see Stephen Gilbert talk to our Year 7s about how he decided to become a member of parliament and how they might decide their future careers. It got the students thinking about different job ideas and the skills they might need so it was an excellent and extremely worthwhile visit.”
