Spring Concert 2017

A brilliant night of music entertained a full house at the annual Newquay Tretherras Spring Concert on 29th March.

Celebrating the arrival of Spring and the end of term, the evening was hosted by Newquay Tretherras Sixth Form students, Deputy Head boy Noah Merrin, Rachel Millington and Sarah Cook.

12 musical items showcased the diverse musical ability Newquay Tretherras has across all year groups. The All Star Percussion group opened the night, followed up by a beautiful performance of ‘Treat You Better’ by Vocal 7.

The ever popular Newquay Tretherras Jazz Band delivered two soulful jazz funk pieces in their first session of the evening followed up by student rock band The Black Crystals performing ‘Song 2’.

Daisy Dewey & Charlotte Barrick, who came 3rd in the NT’s Got Talent competition, performed their vocal Mash Up. The upbeat rhythms of the Samba Band followed and continued with the Year 10 Ensemble. The Senior Choir performed their version of ‘Far Away’ before combining with Vocal 7 and singing the chart hit ‘Rockabye’.

The renowned Year 10 rock group The Hawkes covered ‘Little Monster’, before A level student Sarah Cook, performed a rendition of ‘Tell Me It’s Not Me True’.

Before the evening ended, Year 13 students, Josh Williams, Sarah Cook and Noah Merrin who have been a part of the music department for the last 7 years, were recongised with the NT Music Department ‘Life Time Achievement award.

Closing the evening, Mr Jono Knight thanked all involved in putting the show together and giving a tremendous performance. ‘The students at Newquay Tretherras are fantastic role models to younger students. We are extremely proud of the wonderful talent the students display, and the manner in which they do it.”
