On Tuesday 30th June, Newquay Tretherras were blessed with uninterrupted sunshine for their annual Sports Day Events.
On what was one of the hottest days of the year so far, over 1000 students competed in a variety of track and field events whilst parents cheered on from the sidelines.
An outstanding 16 school records were broken, five of which were long jumps and four of which were 200m events.
The day concluded with a very competitive Staff vs 6th Form relay race, which saw members of the NT Sports department claim victory over their younger opponents.
Mrs Samantha Fairbairn, Associate Headteacher at Tretherras said, ‘NT Sport, staff, parents and students are to be congratulated on a fabulous team effort! Everyone agrees that the day was a resounding success and a great whole school event which brought everyone together in a really happy, positive and uplifting way.”
Mr Craig Richards, Head of PE added, “I am incredibly proud of the whole school. The success of the event is down to the positive way in which everyone gets involved. We had incredibly high levels of participation with a number of students excelling in their events. We’re now already looking forward to next year!”
