On 19th March, sixty Year 9 Newquay Tretherras students organised and led a sports festival for around 125 children from 6 of the smaller local primary schools.
The Year 9s had to design a number of short warm up sessions as well as longer activities to engage the younger students in a day of sport.
Eliza Grigg, a St Newlyn East pupil commented, “It’s been really fun doing so many activities but my favourite was doing the obstacle course!”
The Tretherras students were asked to organise the day as part of the Sky Sports Living for Sport Programme, a free initiative that aims to support sporting students by allowing them free access to an Olympic Mentor.
Mr Andrew Booth, teacher of PE at Tretherras said, “The Year 9′s showed a real degree of maturity in the running of the event and I am really proud of them.”
