Years 5 students from 12 Newquay Primary schools were warmly invited to see and experience a normal school day at Newquay Tretherras.

Parents and children from across Newquay were toured around the by senior members of staff to get their first taste of the Outstanding Academy. Visitors got to see a typical school day and were welcomed into lessons ahead of the school open day in September.

In the 2012, 92% of Students at Newquay Tretherras achieved 5+ GCSE’s at A*-C and 25% of the entire year group passed exams achieving 5 or more
A*- A at KS4. Visitors also met with Year 7 students to talk about their experiences at the academy, their day to day and range of opportunities on offer to then at Tretherras.

Mrs. Sue Martin Headteacher at the Academy said, “It’s a big school with a strong family feel.  There is a really special atmosphere in the school that makes it truly outstanding school. We hope you got a genuine sense of that feeling as you walked round.”

Families were reminded to take part in the 3 Youth University sessions over the summer holidays, starting on the 21st September to get a further feel of the exciting subjects at Tretherras.
