Safer Internet Day 2014

Students, Parents & Teachers can earn their SID2014 Badge

Safer Internet Day (SID) is organised by Insafe and UKSIC in February of each year to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially amongst children and young people across the world.

Safer Internet Day 2014 will take place on Tuesday 11th February 2013. The theme for the day is ‘Let’s create a better internet together’.

Whether you are a young person, parent or teacher, you can earn your digital Open Badge by helping to create a better internet on Safer Internet Day 2014.

There are many ways that you can earn your SID2014 badges, which are being awarded by the Safe programme. You can create and share stories, blogs, videos and pictures about making the internet safer, via the safe social learning platform Makewaves.

How do I earn or help someone to earn their SID2014 badge?

Teachers: Sign up for your free school site on Makewaves to earn your badge and help your students earn theirs. See Badge Mission.

Parents: Sign yourself and your child up for a guest account on the Safe Network on Makewaves. Create and submit content to earn your badge. Contact us to find out if your child’s school is already taking part safe@digitalme.co.uk

See Badge Mission.

Young people: Ask your parents or teachers to get involved! Tell them to contact safe@digitalme.co.uk for more information. See Badge Mission.

Not using Makewaves? If you do not want to use Makewaves, simply fill in this form to earn your badge (one form per individual and you must supply an email address)

We want to get parents involved in helping their child learn about e-safety, so make sure you encourage parents to sign up to your Makewaves site as a guest and take part in Safer Internet Day activities.
