Rugby Success for Tretherras

It’s been a fantastic year for Rugby at Tretherras with FOUR teams reaching County Cup Semi-finals and two teams reaching County Finals!

The Year 8 boys won their semi-final game at home against Mounts Bay in a landslide victory that saw the final score as 36-0. They will play in the Final against Richard Lander on Tuesday 16th December. Good luck boys!

Our Year 7 team won the East Cornwall Rugby Festival at Liskeard School and are now due to play the winner of the West Cornwall Festival.

For the first time ever, the Year 11 boys rugby team made it through to the County Semi-Final but unfortunately lost out to Penair in a nail-biting match.

PE teacher, Mr Matt Johnston said, “We are very fortunate at Tretherras to have fantastic support from the touchline and also from the local rugby community. Throughout this season we have had help with coaching and refereeing, and it is wonderful to see players being encourages from the touchline in the true spirit of the game. “

He continued, “I would like to thanks both Newquay Hornets and Perranporth rugby clubs for their continued support in developing young rugby players at Tretherras School.”
