NT Awarded Centre of Excellence


Newquay Tretherras were delighted to discover that the Chief Executive of the awarding body ASDAN has recently designated the school as a Centre of Excellence for their Creative Teaching and Learning of the Personal and Social Development programme.

During the course, students gain experience in a wide range of topics whilst working towards this qualification. Examples of what is covered include Healthy Living, Environmental Awareness and working with a local Community Action group ‘The Noah Project’, who help local families in crisis.

A variety of ASDAN programmes are run in the school, with students able to gain qualifications across a wide range of subjects, from Entry level through to courses that carry UCAS points for potential University candidates.

Ms Sarah Goswell, Deputy Associate Headteacher said, “”We were thrilled to receive this award, as it will help our students to gain experience over a wide range of topics. The school would like to thank Mrs Julie Cartwright as it is all down to her hard work, leading and delivering the ASDAN courses at Tretherras.”
