Movember 2013

Newquay Tretherras support for Movember raises £1400.

This year the support for Movember at Newquay Tretherras has steadily “grown” and once again organised events and an awareness assemblies of on men’s health informed students.

Through out the Movember month, 25 male members of staff took part by growing moustaches and eagerly anticipated the final day of the ‘Big Shave off’. Students were able to join in on the last day by wearing fake moustaches, dressing up as their favourite moustache super hero and buying a delicious moustache cookie made by the school canteen.

Mini Mo Bro’s, student in the school distinguished by wearing a fake moustache, collected money during assemblies and sold the cookies during break times.

The big shave off was the highlight of the month as students donated to shave off their favourite moustache. Mark and Chris from the Barber Shop Club supported the event once again and expertly taught the students how to shave a moustache much to the relief of the male staff.

Mr. Phil Strungnell who coordinated the event commented, “I really want to thank all the mini Mo bro students for doing all the running around and collection of donations, male staff who grew a moustache and itched for a month, canteen staff for the tasty cookies and Mark and Chris from the Barber Shop Club on Trevenson Road who came into school for the Big Shave off.”

He added, “ We raised nearly £1400 pounds, which is fantastic. It has really showed off the schools ethos.”
