As part of Healthy Schools Week, 2nd – 5th May, students at Newquay Tretherras were given the opportunity to take part in workshops that looked at ways they could take care of their mental and physical wellbeing.
Over the course of the week, a series of workshops led by Newquay Tretherras staff gave students the time to take part in activities that could help them manage different aspects of their physical and mental health.
A broad range of activities were put on for students that included; learning to crochet, showcasing the art of nature through photography, rest and relaxation techniques, climbing exercises, creating a visualisation board, painting a mural, showcasing the enjoyment and relaxation given by reading, yoga, building self-confidence and healthy food workshops.
Co-ordinating the week, Newquay Tretherras Teacher Mrs Hayley Coombes commented, ‘This is the biggest health week we have put on at Newquay Tretherras. Raising awareness of personal wellbeing has been at the forefront of all the different workshops on offer to the students. It has been great to see students and staff taking part in them and taking a moment to relax.’
