On 3rd March, Newquay Tretherras’ Year 7 Drama Club took to the stage at the Hall for Cornwall to participate in a Royal Shakespeare Company performance about King Henry V.
The play, titled ‘The Head That Wears The Crown’, saw 180 students from Newquay primary and secondary schools act out scenes in front of a 400 strong audience.
The 28 strong Tretherras group were one of the biggest involved in the performance and had been regularly rehearsing their part in the play since January.
Year 7 student Marli Battle commented, “Not everyone gets the chance to perform at the Hall for Cornwall so it’s definitely an experience we will never forget.”
Miss Kim Cross, Teacher of Drama at Tretherras said, “I’m so proud of our students as they worked so hard throughout all stages of the rehearsal process. I’m lucky to work with such focused, talented and dedicated young people.”
There is now the potential opportunity for two students from each of the schools to travel to Stratford in July to perform at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.
