Newquay Tretherras students Alarna Langslow and Bailey Jakeman are creating a phenomenal talent showcase in order to raise money for a once in a lifetime opportunity to help build communities in Ecuador.
Following on from an assembly by Camps International, an organization who work to improve challenged communities around the world, the Year 10 girls decided to do take action and support the project. The girls aim to raise enough funds to travel to Ecuador in 2017 where they will live and work on community-based projects such as building schools and marine conservation.
To start their immense fundraising challenge, Alarna and Bailey have decided to organise a talent showcase called Cornwall’s Finest. The extravaganza will show off the talents of artists, actors, singers, musicians and dancers, from all around Cornwall.
Alarna commented, ‘We’ve had to work really hard to organise the event and ask people to come along and perform in the show, but everyone has been great and has got involved. We have some great talent acts and it will be a really good evening of entertainment.’
Bailey added, ‘We have to raise near £4000 each, so we really hope you all can support us. The evening is open to everyone one and will be a great way to start our fundraising.’
The girls have an incredible challenge ahead of them to raise money for their experience. This will be their first event and they are already planning other events to reach their grand total. The Cornwall’s Finest event takes place at Newquay Tretherras on Thursday 25th February, 6:30 pm – 9 pm. Tickets are £5 and available by calling the school on 01637 872080
